The Puppy Palace

This is the puppies' new home. They have plenty of room to run around and wrestle now without destroying the house. They are even getting the house training down pretty well. They have all figured out that the fenced off area with the newspapers is the bathroom and the other side is for sleeping, eating and playing. If we could just get them to stop tearing the newspapers apart, I'd be happy.

We have already added a second story to the perimeter because they've gotten big enough to do this:

Sunny is really done with puppies, but still indulges them occassionally. Six is a fairly small litter for a lab. I can't imagine how she could feed more!

This is the one we've chosen to keep. His name is Woodrow, named after a character in one of my favorite books. He had just had a bath and was shivering, so I put him on the blanket on top of the stove and he went right to sleep. (This is a pellet stove, not a wood stove. The
top is warm, but not hot enough to burn you.)

Last Post for a While

Due to a nasty virus, our computer will be out of commission for a while. Here are a few shots of the pups to hold you over until we are back online.

'Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house, not a creature was stirring...

Yep, we all know who the trouble maker is.

John's aunt made these little purses for Tori and me. Tori thought they made great puppy bonnets.

She's So Crafty

As I had hoped, Tiff did her magic with the sledding picture of the kids. Not only did she make a cool picture, she also turned it into a cool scrapbook page.

Fun in the Snow

In case you haven't heard, Oregon is having some crazy weather. We don't normally see snow in the valley. You can imagine how exciting it is for us to receive nearly a foot of it in two days! To make it even more exciting (scary), we had some freezing rain last night which left a good inch of ice on top of it.

The kids found a great use for the sheets of ice that formed on top of the snow last night. They lined them up into fences and forts. I was at work while this was happening and only got to see the pictures. I probably would have spoiled the fun by telling them how dangerous it is to play with large, sharp pieces of ice! Thankfully, no one was hurt and I just got to tell them how proud I was that they were being so creative.

This is one of Broody's babies slipping around on the ice. Today was the first day that the big girls wouldn't leave the coop, but the five young ones spent all day outside.

There is something so magical about these roses that grow on our front fence. They are beautiful year round.

I'm sure "someone" could do some cool stuff with their fancy color-capture option on this picture. I'm just happy to see my three babies playing happily together. I'm glad John caught the moment.

Puppy Fix

We've been taking so many pictures of the pups, it's hard to choose which ones to share. I have some really cute videos too, but blogger is being a pain and won't upload them. I'll try again tomorrow.

You can't tell in the picture, but all their little tails are wagging while they are gulping away.

Puppies Stink!

The puppies are just over two weeks old now. The have their eyes open. They are starting to walk on their paws instead of doing the belly crawl. They are sitting up like big doggies (so cute). They are even beginning to catch on to house training. As you can see by my walls in the picture above, it will be a long smelly process. Why didn't anyone tell me puppies are so messy?

Sunny has done a pretty good job of keeping them clean, but between that and this:

She is pooped out!
